Cathedral with a Surrealistic, Paradoxial Perspective
Within a masonry framework, one can see a cathedral in four sections, opening up
like a box with hinged sides. On each side of the box is depicted a different
illustration on a wall, in which columns and window frame interweave
between illusory planes and their respective backgrounds. Water is dripping from
the wooden floor of the foreground, but when one looks further, the surface water
goes to the background, turning into stream that winds its way through the
cathedral, where it blends into the horizon. The body and roof of the midsection
are semitransparent; allowing the background and frame to show through the
structure.
The cathedral appears to reach out from the illustration, giving an open
invitation to explore its wonders.
