Violence and Tenderness
Two symbols stand out, at first very similar, but in the top one, the discerning eye
recognizes a fist, a symbol of violent destruction. The lower symbol, however,
represents love and tenderness. It is the image of a mother holding her child
tenderly in her bosom.
Two symbols, very similar in shape, though radically different in meaning; as
with love and hate, these two emotions are related, and the borders between them
are not always clear.
