The Magic Window
From a distance, we can see a girl gazing pensively at a lake, with her face pressed
against a window pane. Perhaps she is dreaming of a sailboat she would like to
own. It would appear so, since the window pane is broken, and the missing pieces
have assumed the shape of a sailboat. This is no ordinary window, however, but a
magic one, and we are already beginning to fall under its spell. We are no longer
outside, but in the young girl's place, contemplating the lake, the two sailboats in
the background, the swan in the center, and the duck in the foreground flanked by
a tree and a fisherman's net.
