From a distance, the observer recognizes the Coliseum in Rome. Up close, however, the building dissolves into two repeating figures, each of which delineates the other. They seem to be enmeshed in a very intimate conversation, for two of them slowly emerge from their background in the same pose, finally meeting in a tender embrace. The image illustrates the Latin palindrome on the top rim of the Coliseum - Love will come upon you suddenly from Rome - which can also be read backwards.
