Don Quixote
The knight of the woeful countenance - as described in the world-famous novel
Don Quixote by Cervantes - was a brave, though somewhat foolish, adventurer
who charged windmills, believing them to be his enemies. Of course, he was not
the only person to suffer from delusions. Even today, a good many people charge
at windmills. Depending on how we look at the illustration, we can see either Don
Quixote's portrait, or the famous knight in all his glory, mounted on his trusty
steed, with his faithfull squire Sancho Panza looking over his shoulder.
