The Impossible Scaffolding
This scaffolding is supported by two vertical, square poles connected by layers of
crossbeams. Transverse boards form a horizontal platform - supporting the bucket
of water. On this platform, the workers can go about their business. The absurdity
of this scaffolding becomes apparent when one realizes that the lowest of the
crossbeams, against which a shovel is leaning, ought to be on the same level as
the top beam, to which the pulley block is fixed.
